    The Department of Sociology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA invites applications for an open area tenure-track position. This position will be at the level of Assistant Professor and will commence in Fall 2025. Minimum qualifications include a PhD at the time of appointment.

    They are seeking a scholar with a strong research trajectory that contributes to the strengths of the department, the university, and Atlanta. They value cutting edge research that adopts a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches, and that pertains to a range of substantive foci.
    Candidates should be prepared to teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to strive for excellence in teaching.

    The Department of Sociology at the University of Southern California will be making one tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor. They are particularly interested in candidates who can expand their strengths in research related to political sociology, culture, and social theory. A doctoral degree is required by the time of appointment. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

    The Institute of Behavioral Science, in collaboration with the Departments of Sociology and Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, invites applications for an Assistant or early Associate Professor in the fields of demography or population science. They seek a colleague with expertise in demographic methods and techniques whose research examines core demographic processes (i.e., fertility, mortality, migration) and who will contribute to CU’s nationally recognized NICHD-funded Population Center (CUPC). They are especially interested in applicants whose work complements existing strengths at CUPC, including in one or more of our primary research areas of (1) Climate Change, Environment and Health, (2) Fertility, and (3) Health and Mortality, or cross-cutting themes in population research such as migration.

    The University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program was established in 1984 to encourage outstanding women and minority Ph.D. recipients to pursue academic careers at the University of California. The current program offers postdoctoral research fellowships, professional development and faculty mentoring to outstanding scholars in all fields whose research, teaching, and service will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity at UC.

    Applicants must hold or receive a Ph.D. or terminal degree in their discipline (JD, MD, MFA, DVM, EdD, etc.) from an accredited university before the start of their fellowship.

    The Urban Institute Office of Race and Equity Research (ORER) is an interdisciplinary hub for innovation in research, policy, and practice to drive equitable outcomes. ORER is looking to bring on a research analyst to help advance its research agenda focused on examining policy solutions to advance equity across different fields, such as wealth building, automated systems, and broader policy design and implementation. The research analyst is responsible for assisting senior researchers and project teams in successfully executing defined research tasks.

    The Center for Open Science (COS) builds the tools to make it possible and easy for the research community to make scientific investigations' data, results, and outcomes open, transparent, and reproducible. 

    This position will be responsible for strategic planning, implementation, and execution of the COS’s new Data Science effort and building towards engaging the metascience community to share insights, collaborate on research studies, and disseminate insights across the community. This includes extracting insights from internal data sources at COS, such as the Open Science Framework (OSF) and connecting these insights to external data sources across the scholarly landscape.

    This is a fully remote position with a requirement to attend up to 4 in person meetings per year. This position will remain open for applications until September 10, 2024.

As a leading global institution in interdisciplinary research on international issues, PIIRS is dedicated to advancing innovative scholarship that addresses the world's most pressing challenges. The PIIRS Postdoctoral Fellows Program is integral to that mission.

    PIIRS will award multiple postdoctoral fellowships to its inaugural cohort in 2025-2026, recent PhDs in the Social Sciences who have demonstrated exceptional scholarship, congruent with the Institute's intellectual focus, that simultaneously advances theoretical debates in their disciplinary field; creatively speaks to and engages with a multidisciplinary audience; and deepens substantive regional knowledge of specific places.

    For 100 years the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) has provided the policy and philanthropic communities with access to the social and behavioral scientists working to innovate and evaluate scalable solutions to pressing societal problems.

    The Vice President of Innovation, a new position at the SSRC, will lead work across the SSRC to leverage the organization’s unique assets in the development of new funded initiatives aimed at advancing research-led innovation.

    The Environmental Justice (EJ) Scholars Program invites EJ expertise, knowledge, and skills from research scholars, academics, public health and health care professionals, and EJ leaders from community-based organizations to work with staff members at various NIH ICOs.

    Environmental Justice scholars will be hosted by one or more NIH Institute, Center, or Office (ICO). During the program period, EJ scholars will collaborate with NIH staff on one or more research, education, or training relevant activities, contributing to the wider NIH community. EJ scholars may partner with NIH intramural and/or extramural (grant funded) scientists on projects of shared interests.

    Scholars are expected to dedicate up to 25% of their time for up to 10 months to support and collaborate with their host ICO(s). Scholars will work virtually, unless otherwise agreed upon with their host ICO(s). The scholar will work with the host ICO on the structure and terms of their work plan prior to position commencement.

    A stipend up to $25,000 may be available. Travel and living expenses for on-site EJ Scholars events may be available.

    The Department of Sociology at Loyola University Maryland invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor to begin July 2025. Tenure-track faculty teach three courses per semester and actively engage in research in the area of their scholarly interest. 

    The department seeks to hire an individual who has research interests in inequality, health, and the social and physical environment, and who makes use of qualitative or quantitative methodologies to explore access to resources, equity of outcomes, and/or activism pertaining to health/medicine. Successful applicants will also have the desire to teach sociological theory, introductory sociology, and an introductory course in society and policy as an introduction to environmental studies. While the department is open to any focus, special consideration will be given to applicants who can extend the department’s global focus or focus on the ways in which race, gender, and class intersect to impact health outcomes at a systemic level.
