    This vacancy is for a Survey Statistician (Recent Graduate) position in the Associate Director for Demographic Programs located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.

    The Census Bureau is seeking bright, innovative, results-oriented individuals to join their Recent Graduates Program (RGP). RGP is a one-year program that targets individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants will be placed in a dynamic, one-year career development program. Throughout the program, you will participate in formal training, job assignments and receive a mentor to develop competencies applicable to the Census Bureau's mission and needs. These positions are at the grade 7/9 entry levels, with an opportunity for permanent appointment upon successful completion of the program.

    The Census Bureau’s Economic Measurement and Research Internship (EMRI) program seeks to hire interns in economics, sociology, statistics, and other social sciences to support the nation’s growing demand for information.   

    The Center for Economic Studies (CES) is recruiting for multiple positions and seeks interns who have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree to provide research assistance to PhD social scientists with research projects using confidential microdata.

    The internship is an excellent opportunity, especially for social science graduate students or those who might be interested in returning to school to earn their PhD, to gain experience in conducting original social science research and in developing advanced programming and data analysis skills.     The Kluge Center at the Library of Congress is accepting applications for 2025-2026 fellowships in the humanities and social sciences through September 12, 2024.

    The Kluge Center encourages humanistic and social science research that makes use of the Library's large and varied collections. Interdisciplinary and cross-cultural research is particularly welcome in the Kluge Fellowship program. The fellowship is open to scholars in the humanities, social sciences, and professional fields such as architecture or law.

    This position will oversee work on income and inequality using CPS ASEC and ACS data. You’ll have the opportunity to be involved in administrative data linkage projects and help continuously improve the tax model.

    This is an Interdisciplinary Supervisory (Survey Statistician or Mathematical Statistician, GS 14) position in the Social Economic and Housing Statistics Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.

    UpTogether is a systems change organization that recognizes that poverty is created by systems, rooted in racism and perpetuated by false views of people considered “poor.”

    UpTogether is seeking a Senior Research Manager to advance the implementation of UpTogether’s learning agenda. This role will manage multiple research initiatives, including external evaluations, and will be responsible for centralizing findings. The ideal candidate will enjoy combing through research reports and sharing learnings, as well as diving into the data themselves.

    The Georgetown U. BLA Program is searching for an instructor for MATH 1040: Probability and Statistics. The BLA Program is a Bachelor's degree program for incarcerated students facilitated by the Georgetown Prisons and Justice Initiative at Patuxent Institution in Jessup, MD. MATH 1040 introduces students to statistics and is a required course for BLA students. The instructor must hold PhD or MA in a relevant discipline (math or social science), with a preference for instructors with a doctorate. The instructor need not have an appointment at an academic institution.   

    Fall classes run from September 3rd to December 9th. Each course meets twice a week for two hours per session, and they generally have teaching times available M/W or T/Th in the morning and afternoon, with some scheduling flexibility. The pay is $8,000 for the semester.

    BLA students take classes in a cohort of about 20-25 students for the first years of the program, and form a tight-knit intellectual community. Anyone incarcerated in MD is able to apply to the program, and the students are incredibly dedicated and engaged.

    Pew Research Center’s Social Trends team studies how social and demographic change affects the way Americans view and experience work and family life, with a particular focus on differences by gender, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic class. The team explores these topics by combining original public opinion survey research with social, economic and demographic analysis. The Social Trends team also works closely with other teams at the Center on research about Americans’ attitudes about race.  

    The Research Associate will be involved in all aspects of research related to social and demographic change, particularly as it relates to the changing American family, including assisting in the design and analysis of research and helping to write and review reports.

    Since 1984, Share Our Strength has led the fight against hunger and poverty by inspiring and organizing individuals and businesses to share their strengths. Today, through the No Kid Hungry campaign, Share Our Strength is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need.

    The Program Manager will help to grow and support a body of work on SNAP, Summer EBT, and benefit integration. Specifically, the Program Manager will help identify, gather, and share best and promising practices in expanding access to SNAP and Summer EBT, develop tools and resources that facilitate program improvement and access, foster cross-state learning, and communicate effective practices through in-person and virtual technical assistance, convenings, webinars, and written resources (i.e., 1-pagers, case studies, and toolkits). This individual will help support work with schools and community partners conducting effective SNAP outreach and support work on benefit integration.

    The Editorial Assistant provides administrative support for the processing and peer review of standard manuscript submissions. Handles routine phone and email inquiries from authors and reviewers. Works closely with the journal’s editorial board to facilitate the peer review process for articles submitted to The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). Reports to the Assistant Managing Editor or Senior Editorial Coordinator and keeps them informed about problem papers.

    PNAS, a peer-reviewed journal of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), is an authoritative source of high-impact, original research that broadly spans the biological, physical, and social sciences. The journal is global in scope, and submission is open to all researchers worldwide.
