"Who defines the future? Who does that future actually serve?

"Tech Policy Press and The Privacy Center at Georgetown Law are asking what a community-built future actually looks like — and who holds the power to shape it. On October 22, join us for the launch of "The Edge Dialogues," featuring special guest Dr. Alondra Nelson, Harold F. Linder Chair at the Institute for Advanced Study.

"This is not your typical tech policy conversation.

"The Edge Dialogues, a new bimonthly webinar series, will explore fundamental issues and ideas upstream of tech policy. The series will dig into questions we are often told we have no right to ask, in order to understand why so many years of conversations haven’t led to laws and policies that actually keep tech companies in check. We don’t want to talk about “AI governance.” We want to talk about power, labor, war, justice, privacy, art, community, and the problem of human consciousness — for starters.

"The first conversation in the series will focus on who gets a say in defining the future. Silicon Valley manifestos promise progress, but progress for whom? We’ll ask what a different version of the future might look like — one where people and communities, not just companies, have a hand in shaping it.

"The Edge Dialogues launches with Dr. Alondra Nelson, Harold F. Linder Chair at the Institute for Advanced Study, in conversation with Tech Policy Press editor Justin Hendrix and The Privacy Center executive director Emily Tucker."
