Linking Children, Adults, and Households in IPUMS MICS

April 15, 2026 11:00 AM Eastern Time

"IPUMS MICS allows data users to create customized data extracts of IPUMS-harmonized versions of the UNICEF Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS). Like UNICEF MICS, IPUMS MICS offers separate data files for different units of analysis (e.g., children, women, households). Combining data from the different units of analysis enriches the data, but requires additional data manipulation steps. This webinar will discuss how to link IPUMS MICS data extracts across units of analysis, including a demonstration of requesting custom data extracts via the IPUMS MICS platform and using Stata to identify and link women, men, and children to their households and to one another."
