From the Sociologists Working Everywhere Spotlight Speaker Series
Kerrie Kauer, PhD, is a Senior UX Researcher at Google where she leads research to build more equitable and human-centered products for a global audience. Drawing on over 20 years of academic and industry experience, including her former career as an Associate Professor of Sport Sociology, she applies sociocultural frameworks to understand the complex social dynamics between humans and technology. Prior to Google, Kerrie led UX research & strategy for diverse companies and initiatives including for major government health clients to Ford and the City of Pittsburgh. At Google, she has led several high-impact initiatives, including research to mitigate socio-technical harms for historically marginalized groups related to genAI & LLMS, and global ethnographic research for Google Play. She is a co-author with researchers at Google DeepMind on a recent and notable publication on AI and Health in Africa.
