Countering Disinformation Leading Up to the Election

Coordinated groups of bad actors are actively pushing disinformation to divide communities, delay action, and distract and demoralize those trying to build a healthy planet and safer world. As we head into a presidential election year, disinformation around voting and elections is going to increase. It's essential that science supporters are equipped to effectively spot and address disinformation to help protect both science and our democracy.

The Union of Concerned Scientists invites scientists and experts to a training webinar on the best practices for countering disinformation leading up to the election: how to develop counter-narratives, the pitfalls to avoid when engaging with audiences, and how to talk about the role that scientists can play in countering disinformation.

The webinar will highlight specific examples of how disinformation around voting and elections are harmful to both science and democracy; however, the guidance is applicable to addressing disinformation across all topic areas.
