"National and state-specific estimates of the unequal impacts of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision on fertility in the US"

Suzanne Bell, Johns Hopkins University

The Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision in June 2022 removed federal protections for the right to abortion, fundamentally changing the abortion landscape in the United States. The current study addresses gaps in the literature, generating first-of-its kind evidence on the unequal impact of the Dobbs decision on fertility rates, both across and within states, and by several demographic subgroups.

The presentation is part of the Maryland Population Research Center seminar series. It will be held in 2208 LeFrak Hall on the UMD campus and is also available online via Zoom. For more information and to register, see the listing on the MPRC website.
