The Dissertation Research Grants program supports innovative and high-quality dissertation research that addresses questions relevant to any of RSF’s priority areas: Behavioral Science and Decision Making in Context; Future of Work; Race, Ethnicity and Immigration; Immigration and Immigrant Integration; and Social, Political, and Economic Inequality. 

The proposal deadline for the third round of grants is February 1, 2024, for funding starting in Summer 2024. RSF program staff will host an informational webinar about applying for a Dissertation Research Grant on January 9, 2024, at 2:00 pm (ET). Register for the webinar here.

The University of Mississippi NSF REU site project immerses students in a 10-week summer research experience where they learn and put into practice interdisciplinary methods to study race, power, and the politics of place within the American South. Participants will work alongside of and learn from an interdisciplinary group of faculty, receiving hands-on instruction in research design, data collection, and data analysis. Additionally, students will participate in faculty-directed research projects that focus on understanding how race, place, and power intersect, with a special emphasis on how to conceptualize, operationalize, and study these concepts through an interdisciplinary, multi-methodological perspective.

The Rangel Program is a U.S. State Department program administered by Howard University that seeks to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers as diplomats in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State. The Program seeks individuals interested in helping to shape a freer, more secure and prosperous world through formulating, representing, and implementing U.S. foreign policy. The Program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and those with financial need.

The Summer Enrichment Program for undergraduate students covers the costs for tuition, travel, housing, and two meals per day as well as a stipend of $3,300.

The Arnold Ventures Criminal Justice Innovation Fellowships will support five post-doctoral fellows who are pursuing policy-relevant causal research designed to innovate and evaluate cost-effective and scalable policy solutions that advance the efficacy and equity of criminal justice practices. 

Fellows will need to have received a Ph.D. no earlier than September 2019 and no later than September 2024. Fellows may reside in a location of their choosing. Fellows residing in the United States will receive salaries of $120,000 with full benefits and annual salary increases. Fellows may choose to reside outside of the United States and receive fellowship stipends of $120,000.

The deadline to submit fellowship applications is January 15, 2024.

IPUMS seeks a Data Analyst with a strong data-driven social science or public health background. The primary focus of this position is to produce web-based resources, interactive dashboards, reports, and data analysis resources applying international IPUMS health survey data for science and policy. Time is also allocated for coordinating related data analysis projects and timelines. Most of this research will employ data from countries in sub-Saharan Africa. This position is eligible for fully remote, hybrid, or fully onsite work arrangements.
