"Explaining Disparities in Health and Health Care Use Among Trans, Nonbinary, and Other Gender Expansive College Students"

February 24, 2025
from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM

"Compared to cisgender students, gender expansive college students report worse health, more major medical problems, and are more likely to delay medical or dental care or reduce medication use. Drawing upon an original dataset of 4,452 college students, including 76 gender expansive (trans and non-binary) students, I find disparities were largely explained by differences in financial, housing and food insecurity; mental health; substance use and exercise; and health care delays. Differences in family support and closeness did not explain disparities."
